A free HANDS OVER demo is available on Steam. It launched on October 15, 2026, supports up to five players online, and contains the core table loop. It is not a separate game or a single-player teaser; it is a pre-release slice of the same multiplayer format.
This guide covers what the demo contains, how to get into a session, and what the demo cannot tell you about the November 13 Early Access release.

What the demo includes
ArtDock’s demo description confirms the same premise as the full game:
- Up to five players online.
- A first-person table with dangerous challenges.
- The tooth device, where players press teeth one by one and one is wrong.
- Influence cards used between turns to change odds, protect, sabotage or trigger chaotic events.
- Visible failure states, including losing a hand or being knocked out of a round.
- The “last player left” match goal.
What the demo does not confirm:
- The full challenge roster.
- The number of cards, their names or their costs.
- Progression, unlocks or character customization.
- Whether demo progress carries into the full game.
- Console availability or crossplay.
The demo is a vertical slice, not a content-complete build. Treat it as a mechanics test.

How to install the demo
- Open the HANDS OVER Demo page on Steam in a browser or the Steam client.
- Sign in to Steam if you are not already signed in.
- Choose the download or install option for the demo. On Steam, free demos are installed as separate entries in your library.
- Launch the demo and host or join a session. The demo supports online play for up to five players.
The demo requires Windows 10/11 and the same published minimum hardware as the full game: an Intel Core i5-4460 or AMD FX-8350, 8 GB RAM, and a GTX 960 or R9 280. The demo page does not list recommended specs or storage.
If the install button is missing, check that you are on the demo page rather than the full game page, and that the demo has not been delisted in your region. Availability can change around launch.
How to find a group
HANDS OVER is not a solo experience in the demo. If you do not have four friends ready, ArtDock points players to its official Discord for matchmaking. The Steam community hub is the other official place to look.
A practical session plan:
- Decide who hosts before everyone launches.
- Use voice chat outside the game if you want table talk; in-game voice chat has not been documented.
- Agree on a session length. The demo is a limited slice, but the exact match timer is not public.
- Expect the first round to be chaotic. The rules are simple; the social reads take longer.
What the demo can and cannot tell you
| Question | Can the demo answer it? |
|---|---|
| Does the social tension work with my group? | Yes. That is the main reason to play it. |
| Do I understand the tooth challenge? | Yes, at the level the demo presents it. |
| How many cards are in the full game? | No. |
| Will the full game have more modes? | Not from the demo alone. ArtDock has said more are planned. |
| Will console players be able to join? | No. Console versions and crossplay are unconfirmed. |
| Is the final balance representative? | No. The build is pre-release and can change. |
| Will my progress carry over? | Not announced. |
Reception snapshot
As of November 2, 2026, the demo page showed 185 user reviews and a 77% positive rating (“Mostly Positive”). That is a snapshot, not a permanent score. Review counts and percentages move, and a demo’s reception is not a review of the full game.
ArtDock also announced that the demo ranked #13 in Steam Next Fest’s Top 50 demos. That is the studio’s own announcement, not an independent ranking audit. It is still a useful signal of visibility during the festival.
The demo also participated in Steam Scream Fest through November 2, 2026.

Is the demo still available?
Yes, as of November 2, 2026. The demo page remains live on Steam. ArtDock has not said whether it will stay available after the Early Access launch. If you want to try it before November 13, do not assume it will be there indefinitely.
Should you play the demo before buying?
Yes, if you have a group. The game’s value depends on the people at the table, and the demo is the only official way to test that chemistry before launch. If you are solo or unsure about online multiplayer, the demo will not answer the “can I play alone?” question because no solo mode has been announced.
The beginner’s guide covers what to practice in the demo. The multiplayer page covers player count, crossplay and group finding in more detail.
